上月，CryptoPunk#9998一度錄得以5億3,200萬美元(124,457以太幣)成交！然而，2017年6月推出CryptoPunks的工作室Larva Labs很快便公開澄清：
This transaction (and a number of others) are not a bug or an exploit, they are being done with “Flash Loans. In a nutshell, someone bought this punk from themself with borrowed money and repaid the loan in the same transaction. Some recent large bids were done the same way. The ether is offered and removed in a single transaction. So, while technically briefly valid, the bid can never be accepted.
原來，這宗破紀錄的NFT「買賣交易」其實是「左手交右手」的wash trading。造市、打成交等等虛擬交易，在受監管的證券市場都是禁止的。在區塊鏈上，所有交易卻是一目了然。就這宗虛擬代幣的虛擬交易，心水清的網友清楚解釋：”you can see it here： 0x9b5a flash loans 124,457 ETH from many sources. 0x9b5a pays 124,457 ETH to the punk contract. punk contract sends it to 0x8e39. 0x8e39 sends back to 0x9b5a. 0x9b5a repays loan. genius”
天才的，我始終認為是去中心化的區塊鏈技術。2017年由Matt Hall和John Watkinson創立的Larva Labs研發，CryptoPunks是最早期及規模最大的NFT計劃。簡單來說，CryptoPunks是24x24像素的加密藝術圖像，當中包括10,000個獨特=的NFT存儲在以太坊區塊鏈。從0到9999，每個CryptoPunk都有一個唯一的編號。這10,000個CryptoPunk分為五種類型，較罕有的外星人、猿和殭屍的數量分別是9、24、88。另外，整個系列還有87個特徵，而每個CryptoPunk則具有當中的0至7個特徵。
透明的交易紀錄，容許經濟學者研究投資NFT的回報與風險。最近一篇學術文章便分析了CryptoPunks的交易數據，研究發現：擁有“Beanie” 特徵的CryptoPunk平均升價近5倍，擁有“Pilot Helmet”和“Tiara”特徵的價值也翻了一番。相反，具有某些特徵如“Stringy Hair”、“Bandana”或“Frumpy Hair”的則以折扣交易。換句話，CryptoPunk收藏家願意為某些特徵支付溢價，而具有某些特徵的則以折扣價出售。符合經濟邏輯，溢價最高的前10個特徵都是稀有的。有趣的是，以折扣價出售的一些特徵也不常見。因此，審美偏好同時亦影響NFT 價格。
